Back-to-school season is a rush! We understand what it’s like when you have multiple kids with lists from different teachers asking you to buy things for your student. Often times there is a small window for parents to find everything they need.
At Shining Light Music, we have everything your student needs for their music classes this fall! Whether your student is just starting band or orchestra in elementary school, or finishing up their school years as a senior, we have everything your student’s teacher will ask you to purchase for their instruments!
1. Musical Instrument
If your student will be playing an instrument this fall, finding the right instrument for them to play is a pretty big deal!
At Shining Light Music we have an affordable rent-to-own program for band and orchestra instruments! We have a wide selection of both used and new instruments in student, intermediate, and professional models.
All of our band and orchestra instruments are also available to purchase, if you prefer not to rent.

2. Music Book
Band and orchestra teachers require students to purchase specific books for class. We carry all the most common series of band and orchestra books.

3. Maintenance Kit
Ever wonder what it takes to clean and care for your instrument?
As a new musician, we know there is a lot to keep track of with your instrument. So we decided to make things a little easier for you! We have put together custom Shining Light Music maintenance kits for flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone.
These maintenance kits are designed to give you everything you need to take care of your instrument at a fraction of the cost that it would take to purchase the supplies separately!
Included in these maintenance kits are all the instrument supplies your student’s teacher will be asking for, along with instructions on how to use every item in your kit.
4. Instrument Accessories
Shining Light Music carries all kinds of instrument accessories! If your student’s teacher is asking for supplies that are not included in our maintenance kits, don’t be afraid! We have many different brands and accessories for instruments and will likely have whatever you need.

5. Music Stand
Most music teachers will ask you to get a portable music stand for your student to practice with at home. We carry several brands of music stands at an affordable price!
These music stands are collapsible and sometimes come with a small travel bag in case you want to take it somewhere.
We also carry sturdy Hamilton stands if you are looking for a more permanent stand that does not collapse. These stands can hold more weight and are significantly sturdier than the collapsible ones.
6. Instrument Checkup
If you already own or are renting an instrument, it is a good idea to get the instrument looked over before school starts. Having regular maintenance done on your instrument is important to keep your instrument functioning the way it is supposed to!
At Shining Light Music we give free estimates before doing any work on your instrument! It costs nothing to bring the instrument by and see what all should be done on it to get it ready for school.
If you are renting an instrument at Shining Light Music, part of your contract is a service agreement, which means that any regular maintenance on the instrument is covered and you don’t have to pay for it. Now that’s a deal!
